Professor at the George Washington University, Lawrence Cunningham is a leading authority on Law and Accounting, particularly in corporate governance and securities regulation. In 1996, he published the first version of The Essays of Warren Buffett, updated periodically. Author of another eleven books, which include How to Think like Benjamin Graham and Invest like Warren Buffett, Outsmarting the Smart Money and What is Value Investing?, he has been featured in Forbes and Money, and is quoted extensively in many of the world’s most prominent business newspapers. Professor Cunningham came to Brazil for the first time exclusively to participate in the Congresso Value Investing Brasil.

He received his graduate degrees in Business and Accounting from UFRGS, a postgraduate degree in Accounting from FEA-USP, and a master’s degree in Finance from EAESP-FGV. In 2002, he participated in the Applied Value Investing program at Columbia University. Since that year, he has been a member of Value Investors Club. Founder of van Biema Value Partners, a fund of funds that invests in value managers of outstanding quality, worldwide, Michael van Biema was on the faculty of Columbia Business School from 1992 to 2004, where he taught corporate finance, capital markets, securities analysis, value investing, and entrepreneurial finance in both the regular and executive MBA programs. He received his B.A. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and his Ph.D. from Columbia University.
